Speaking Of Madison ...

We wanted to hold our 2009 Society of Wetland Scientists/Wisconsin Wetlands Association Conference in Madison because, as a water-based organization, we could think of no better way to promote our messages of protecting the state's wetlands than to be at Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center, overlooking the lake and in a city with one of the greatest research institutions in the world. Attendees raved about the event, the location and Madison. WWA would definitely recommend working with the GMCVB. Our organization looked better because of the professionals and professional service of the GMCVB.

Madison is a great place to visit and even better place to live. With its vibrant cultural scene and world-class University of Wisconsin for academic and sporting options, Madison is a place that has a buzz of activity. The GMCVB has been instrumental in assisting businesses and the University as well as state government in bringing world-class events to our community. One example of their assistance was in coordinating the Association of University Research Parks 14th International Conference at Monona Terrace Convention Center. The event was a success and the attendees were pleased with the venue and destination. This truly is a unique place to have your business meeting or convention. The GMCVB was very instrumental in bringing the 2010 National Kidney Foundation U.S. Transplant Games to Madison. More than 7,500 attendees, including 1,500 transplant recipient athletes, will come to Madison for the Games. From organizing the hotel rooms and multiple event venues needed for the week-long event, to personally presenting the national bid to the site selection committee, the GMCVB continues to be an integral part of the local organizing committee.

The Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau was instrumental in bringing the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) to Madison for 2011. The CNU Philosophy is to promote walkable neighborhood development. CNU is a perfect fit for Madison as we can showcase our existing urban neighborhoods and utillize the conference as a resource for local development and sustainability issues we are currently working on.
