Speaking Of Asheville ...

The Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) hosted our 2016 conference SNAGneXt in the City of Asheville, NC. We chose Asheville not only for the beauty of the setting, but for its rich and diverse culture and support of the arts. As a very walkable city, Asheville provided our attendees a background of entertainment, amazing food, and creative drinks while learning about how to make a living in the field of jewelry and metals. The large amount of galleries in the downtown are provided for a rich exhibition crawl filled with unique and varied exhibitions. And the Urban Trail public art collection created an opportunity for our artists to learn more about how to become involved in public art. We used a variety of sites to allow our attendees to experience the true beauty and community of Asheville.

You have an amazing staff and all CVBs should take your lead on how to welcome and work with meeting planners and visitors to their city. I know if…my travels bring me back to Asheville or through Asheville, I have wonderful people I can contact.

The Asheville Convention and Visitor Bureau provided critical support to make the 30th Anniversary National Conference on Undergraduate Research a big success. Held on the UNC Asheville campus, the conference featured about 4,000 students and faculty from across the nation and beyond. The Asheville Convention and Visitor Bureau procured the thousands of hotel rooms needed and managed liaison work between hotels and the conference; provided guidance and direction on Asheville businesses for the conference guests; and provided general support throughout conference planning and execution. Our conference is grateful for all the good work provided by Asheville’s Conventional and Visitor Bureau.
