What is a CVB?

A convention and visitors bureau (also called destination marketing organizations-DMO) are is a not-for-profit organization charged with representing a specific destination and most are largely funded by hotel occupancy taxes. For meetings both small and large, CVBs give meeting planners access to a range of services including checking for hotel and meeting space availability and arranging for site inspections. CVBs also link planners with local service companies from motorcoach companies and caterers to off-site entertainment venues.

"In my Army career, I worked with organizations such as yours in Atlanta, Savannah, and San Francisco in setting up national meetings. None of them gave as much assistance as you and your staff provided us as we prepared the bid for this convention. And, none of them offered the continued assistance that you provided us after we got the bid. From the comments of our guests, I am happy to report that Springfield made a sterling impression on them."

"When we came to Frisco it was love at first site! The family friendly community, shops, restaurants, and plush surroundings make it an ideal location to host almost any event. The hotel, convention center, and CVB staff were a pleasure to work with: icing on the cake. We plan to host our yearly event in Frisco for years to come. "
